Tribute to the achievements of Network European Movement Germany

13.11.2009 - Press release

Network European Movement Germany was presented with the EurActiv Award for Debating Europe Nationally in Brussels last night (12 November). This prize is awarded in recognition of the work performed by the Network to communicate European policy. The jury believes events, dialogue fora, briefings and EU analyses form a successful communication model with which the Movement manages to explain the complex political processes between EU institutions and the member states to the citizens.

Minister of State Dr Werner Hoyer paid tribute today (13 November) to the work of Network European Movement Germany:

“The award rightly underscores the major achievements of Network European Movement in communicating European policy in Germany.

Europe has to be a project of all citizens as it is our shared future. Transparency, closeness to the citizens and a strong democratic foundation are therefore absolutely decisive.

That is why we want to continue to work together with Network European Movement Germany and its member organizations and interest groups so that Europe enjoys strong support in our society.”

Network European Movement today includes more than 170 civil society interest groups and has been an institutional partner of the Federal Government on European policy for 60 years. The Federal Foreign Office works closely with the Movement in the sphere of communication and provides funding of more than 300,000 euro annually.
