Foreign Minister Westerwelle holds talks in Vaduz, Riga and Oslo

Today (22 August), Foreign Minister Westerwelle is travelling to Vaduz/Liechtenstein for a meeting of the German‑speaking Foreign Ministers. The Foreign Ministers of Germany, Liechtenstein (Aurelia C.K. Frick), Austria (Michael Spindelegger) and Switzerland (Didier Burkhalter) are meeting for the first time ever in this quadrilateral format to discuss European and international issues.

Tomorrow (23 August), the Federal Foreign Minister will meet his three Baltic counterparts Urmas Paet (Estonia), Edgars Rinkēvičs (Latvia) und Audronius Ažubalis (Lithuania) in Riga. During these 3+1 consultations, which have been taking place on a regular basis since 1994, the focus will be on overcoming the debt crisis, energy, EU financial planning and international trouble spots.

On 24 and 25 August, Foreign Minister Westerwelle will meet for talks with his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Støre in Oslo. He will deliver a speech on international issues at the Norwegian Ambassadors Conference and will lay a wreath in front of Oslo Cathedral to pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks in Oslo and Utøya on 22 July 2011.
