Germany, Austria and Switzerland to sign trilateral agreement at the Berlin International Film Festival

10.02.2011 - Press release

On Friday (11 February) a trilateral film agreement will be signed by German Ministers of State Cornelia Pieper and Bernd Neumann, the Austrian Minister for Education, Arts and Culture, Claudia Schmied, and Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter, the Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs. Dieter Kosslick, the Film Festival Director, will attend the ceremony, which will take place during the Berlinale.

The Film Agreement will provide a legal framework for cooperation between producers from the three countries. Under its terms, films produced by German, Austrian and Swiss co-producers will in principle be treated as national productions. The Agreement is an expression of our good trilateral relations, which are to be further intensified in the economic and cultural fields.
