In Berlin on 5 March, a meeting of the sub-working group on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and arms control of the German-Russian High Level Working Group on Security (HAGS) took place under the chairmanship of Rüdiger Bohn, Deputy Federal Government Commissioner for Disarmament and Arms Control, and Vladimir Yermakov, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control.

During the meeting, which was attended by representatives of German and Russian government agencies, there was a substantive exchange on a wide range of issues concerning arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, including the INF Treaty, the conference on disarmament due to take place in Berlin on 15 March 2019, new missile technology, missile defence, the problem of preventing an arms race in space, fully autonomous weapons systems, the strengthening of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, the implementation of the JCPOA with Iran, the Structured Dialogue within the OSCE, the Vienna Document, the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons as well as cyber issues.

The two sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue the constructive work within the framework of HAGS.
