The 13th plenary meeting of the German-Russian High Level Working Group on Security was held today (12 November) in Berlin chaired by Vladimir G. Titov, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Andreas Michaelis, State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office. It was the first time this important body had met in six years.

The meeting saw a substantial exchange of views on current issues in the fields of security policy, arms control as well as regional conflicts. The discussions focused particularly on the Ukraine conflict, Georgia, the INF Treaty, NATO-Russia relations, the conflict in Syria, the Vienna nuclear agreement with Iran as well as combating terrorism.

The next meeting of the High Level Working Group is envisaged for 2019 in Moscow.
